The internet can be a very amazing and helpful place for everyone. We can find out just about anything in a matter of a couple clicks of a mouse and keyboard, but that does not mean that what we find is always accurate. Just because it is on the internet, does not make it true. We can't believe everything we read, that's why if we are going to use online sources, we should be critical about who wrote it and if it is factual. Academics aside, you need to be realize that what you say and post on social media sites, will follow you for the rest of your life. Doing and saying seemingly "silly" things on the internet now, may follow into adulthood. Inappropriate postings may be harmful to a future career. You need to keep in mind that a future employer may Google you one day and if they are not happy with what they see, they have every right to not hire you. It's not just about thinking about the future of your posts, even now, if you are giving away too much information, you can be a victim of things like fraud. Someone can take advantage of knowing all of your information to steal your identity or worse. It is better to be safe than sorry and hide all of your private information, or to simply not post it at all. Which is another reason that, on any site you partake in, you should only add people that are your friends in real life. Adding people you do not know is allowing the possibility of unwanted attention.
